I am a Professor of Philosophy and Vice-Provost (Academic) at Te Herenga Waka--Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.  My expertise in philosophy are in metaphysics, the philosophy of language, and the philosophy of literature.  My teaching has focused on critical thinking and my current research interests are on the philosophy of religion and fictionalism within that domain.  As Vice-Provost (Academic), I am a member of the University's Senior Leadership Team.  I am responsible for overseeing all aspects of learning, teaching and student experience at the University. I have the Student Experience and Wellbeing Directorate and the Academic Office in my portfolio.

I am also the CEO of the Australasian Association of Philosophy, the peak body for the promotion of philosophical research, education and scholarship in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.  As CEO, I aim to promote philosophy in universities, schools and among the general public in Australasia.  I also support academic philosophers across the region.

I believe in the transformative power of education.  My ambition is to inspire students and facilitate their passion for learning, their respect for evidence, and their ability to think critically.  I support academic staff to teach collaboratively and engagingly.  I guide professional staff in my team to enhance the wellbeing of our students.  I make a social impact and encourage all students to be civically engaged by providing and building meaningful relationships with industry, government and non-government organisations.  I have many years of experience leading curriculum change. I enjoy enhancing the learning experience and adapting to an ever-changing teaching environment.
