I am an Associate Professor in the Philosophy Programme at Victoria University. I have previously served as Head of the Philosophy Programme, Deputy Head of the School of History, Philosophy, Political Science and International Relations, and have served multiple terms as Associate Dean (Students, Postgraduate Research and Academic Programmes) in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.  I am the Programme Director for the Masters of Philosophy, Politics and Economics programme.  I have taught numerous courses in philosophy, including Critical Thinking, Epistemology, Metaphysics, Philosophical Methodology and the Philosophy of Literature.  I have also taught interdisciplinary courses open to students across the University, including coordinating and teaching into Science and Humanities, Great Ideas, and the Future of Work.  I have published important work on Fiction and Metaphysics.  I received my PhD from Princeton University in 2002 and have previously taught at Western Washington University in the United States.. I am a native of Australia, but feel very much at home in New Zealand.
